100 Wisconsin Avenue, LLC, a family-owned Madison real estate development and management company, developed the project. The family and the business enterprise are headed by Jerry and Carol Mullins. For the past 40 years, Jerry and Carol have quietly built an impressive real estate portfolio. According to the Official Annual Statement of the City of Madison, the Mullins' are the largest individual property owners in the City. Today, their business enterprise is a multi-generational effort.
Jerry is a professional engineer. His peers readily acknowledge Jerry as a brilliant developer who has a gifted vision of what can be and a proven track record for developing creative projects. Carol has been a working partner of the family's development activities since 1966. She is managing director of One Hundred Wisconsin LLC. She is invaluable in her role due to her efficient and effective management skills and special eye for design.
The 100 Wisconsin Avenue project is spearheaded by the three sons of Jerry and Carol: Brian, Brad, and Jay. Each of the sons grew up in downtown Madison and has their own impressive consulting credentials. Brian Mullins is an engineer and lawyer. He is a nationally recognized construction lawyer, advocate, and counselor to contractors, architects, engineers, and others in the construction industry. Brad Mullins is an economist and the Director of Development of The Mullins Group, LLC. Brad oversees the family's commercial property acquisitions, financing, management, and development. Jay Mullins is a professional engineer and the Director of Construction for The Mullins Group, LLC. He has an extensive background and credentials in designing and constructing high-rise concrete structures, as well as electronic data systems.
Building Architect - James Shields, AIA, of Hammel, Green and Abrahamson
Jim Shields is a heavily sought after architect who is very selective as to the projects he accepts. A long-time member of Madison's Urban Design Commission described Jim as the Mozart of architecture. In addition to his design responsibilities at Hammel, Green and Abrahamson, Jim is also an Associate Professor of Architecture at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee where he teaches graduate studies on the design of public buildings. Previously, he held a Visiting Professorship of Design and History at Arizona State University in Tempe. Jim has also studied in Paris with the University of Pennsylvania Foreign Studies Program.
Mr. Shields earned a Master of Architecture at the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee and is a Wisconsin Registered Professional Architect. He is also a member of both the Wisconsin Society of Architects and American Institute of Architects. In the area of architectural publications, Jim has written two books: Architectural Representation, published by Prentice Hall in 1988, and The Cities of J.D. Doty, published by the Center for Architecture and Urban Planning Research in 1990. Jim has also had numerous articles published on subjects ranging from urban design to architectural drawing.
